In our new blog series, we take you on a weekly tour of the best small campsites in Europe that are perfect for travelling with a rooftop tent. We only select sites with a maximum of 15 pitches, simple but well cared for facilities and a warm welcome for rooftop tent travellers.
We start with France.
1. La Nozillière – Marval-Milhaguet, Limousin
La Nozillière is a charming family campsite located in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional Périgord Limousin. With 15 spacious pitches of around 300 m², this campsite offers plenty of space and privacy. The campsite has well-maintained sanitary facilities, a swimming pool and a large playground for children. A stream runs alongside the campsite, providing a soothing background noise. In the evening, guests can enjoy a campfire or join a cosy table d'hôte.

2. La Cazette – Gorges des Raspes du Tarn, Zuid-Frankrijk
La Cazette is a small-scale campsite situated on the sunny terraces of a former vineyard in the valley of the River Tarn, between Albi and Millau. The campsite offers fully equipped family tents, a cottage and a wooden chalet. Guests can enjoy beautiful views of the River Tarn and swim in the refreshing rapids or deeper parts of the river after a short walk.

3. Camping en Haute Montagne – Auvergne
This terraced campsite in Auvergne offers 14 pitches of 80 m² each, perfect for rooftent users looking for peace and nature. The campsite has modern and well-maintained sanitary facilities. In July and August, guests can enjoy a supervised lake just 300 metres away. There is also a free little train that takes you to the nearby village, with a stop right in front of the campsite.
